About Kim...

I can’t tell you how many iterations of this bio I have written, both in first and third person, which is a weird thing to do, by the way.  And it has occurred to me with this particular version to embody a different perspective, the one of the potential student or client.  What can I tell you?  Here’s a start.
I have been practicing yoga since 2001 but honestly, I have always done some variation of it since I was a young girl.  I have trained for marathons and I still enjoy running.  I have played tennis and suffered from tennis elbow.  I have had knee injuries, flat feet, even broke my wrist recently, back and shoulder issues and all of these things have helped me understand my body and the healing powers of all aspects of yoga.  That's why I keep coming back.
My training…
I am a Registered Yoga Teacher with Yoga Alliance an E-RYT 500.  Which means this; 200 hour certification in 2007, 500 hour certification in 2011 and thousands of classes later, I'm  “experienced”.  I have also studied with Annie Carpenter, Rodney Yee, Johnny Kest, Saul David Raye, Shiva Rae, Rusty Wells, AcroYogis -  Jason and Jenny and Judith Lasiter,  just to name a few. In addition to my study of yoga therapeutics, I have a deep love affair with vinyasa and a willingness to explore all varieties and traditions that yoga has to offer.
My classes reflect a sense of humor and a certain amount of interactivity. I encourage students to ask questions if something doesn’t feel right. Music is an important element in most of my classes, it will be there lulling you to sing, dance or meditate. My hope for every student is that they leave my classes feeling better than when they came.
In addition to my yoga experience, I am a Daoist Priest, Master Reiki and Medicine Buddha Reiki, and bodyworker. These elements saturate my classes providing a sense of health and well-being. The bodywork aspect of my practice grew out of my experience with anatomy, physiology, personal injuries, alignment based yoga, injury prevention, rehabilitation and many years of working with injured yoga students.

“One of the most wonderful things about returning to Houston after being away so long is returning to your yoga classes.  After class this morning I felt transformed, really, from a creaky person to one with some fluidity and ease.  These tiny little steps that you put us through make such a huge difference.  Today was especially wonderful, although it may also be the cumulative effect of both days.  I will be in class next Tuesday and as often as I can!  Thank you!”
